The Challenge
Nichole's Block
Nichole's a yoga therapist helping exhausted parents of kids with special needs. She can record videos for her course students—even doing multiple takes—but posting video on social media? Total freeze.
Here's what she told me:
"I get too heady. I start to stutter and get nervous. I was born in the 70s and writing was different back then—we had to write formally. I'm constantly having to water down my language."
Smart, credentialed experts afraid they'll sound too technical. Worried about stuttering. Not finding the right words fast enough.
Here's what I told Nichole:
"Exhausted parents don't want polished. They want real."
If you stutter? That makes you human. If you pause to find your words? That makes you relatable. The messy aspects of showing up build connection, not break it.
The Solution
What We Built
We created three video approaches to ease Nichole into showing up. The first one is the easiest:
A P P R O A C H 1
Record ONE powerful sentence.
Set up your phone. Hit record. Say one truth. Stop recording.
"Here's what I wish every parent knew."
Write everything else in your caption. Total time? 30 seconds. No editing. No perfection. Just you, one sentence, done.
If Approach 1 is all you need—go try it. Record that one sentence this week and see what happens.
For the other two approaches (voice + visuals with no face required, and the side profile time-lapse), plus the exact script we wrote for Nichole, keep reading below.
