When Doubt Creeps IN
During this week's 1:1 mastery session, one of my brilliant Tabernacle residents (hey S!) sat in with me, ready to launch her Substack newsletter. She'd done everything right - mapped out her content, designed her offerings, even picked the perfect launch date.
Then came the question:
"If I give away all my best stuff in the newsletter, will anyone actually hire me?"
Such a good one, right?!
The 1:1 Mastery Session Breakthrough
Instead of jumping straight to advice, I asked S to walk me through her planned content. Her eyes lit up as she shared her ideas - deep dives into postpartum healing, personal stories of postpartum care, and practical cocooning exercises for how 42 days influence the next 42 years. But with each topic, she'd add,
"Maybe I should save this for paid subscribers?"
That's when it hit me. We weren't really talking about content strategy. We were talking about faith in our own value.
What Actually Happened
I shared my screen and showed S my most-read newsletter from last year. It was an in-depth breakdown of a client's entire sales page design process - literally everything I do for my clients, step by step. "Know what happened after I sent this?" I asked her.
One person enrolled in Tabernacle that week. Not despite the detailed breakdown, but because of it. They saw the depth of work involved and thought, "I want Erica's eyes on my project."
So, the moral of the story is that you can actually share MORE.
The Real Truth About Sharing
This is what I told S, and what I want to tell you:
Your newsletter is not your product. It's your invitation.
When you share generously, you:
- Show people you know your stuff
- Help them understand the depth of your work
- Build trust through genuine teaching
- Create a space for connection
S left our session with a completely different energy. Instead of holding back, she's now expanding her first newsletter into a two-part series to include even more practical tools and personal stories.
What I'm Working On:
Wrapping up the final stages of Tabernacle 9.0! After months of deep work, watching our Residents strategize and script their social media content feels like putting the final touches on a masterpiece.
Their brands are so well-defined now that creating visuals in Canva is pure play - just mixing and matching their carefully chosen fonts, colors, and graphic styles they've been developing since August.
What I'm Loving:
The surge of solopreneurs building in Kajabi! Our free monthly design sessions are becoming this amazing space where we tackle everything from technical details to bigger questions about sharing our expertise. Seeing everyone embrace the new tech, from basic checkout pages to full curriculum builds, is absolutely energizing.
If you are contemplating Kajabi for your digital teaching house, reply back to this email! I offer these monthly design sessions to all my affiliates.
